Web-enabled Functionality
We are committed to creating online functionality that not only makes student loans a worthwhile enterprise for our lending partners but also a successful borrowing endeavor for students and families. Below are just a few of the products, tools, and functionality we've created.
Online Loan Applications and Electronic Signature
On July 1, 2001, we became the first student loan organization to accept a valid, electronically signed Stafford Master Promissory Note (MPN). We have expanded our online application functionality to include the Parent/Graduate PLUS loan application and Consolidation loan applications. We have also incorporated the capacity for e-sign for the Consolidation application.
Borrowers login to a secure section of our Website so that we can pre-populate demographic fields on the application. We check our back-end databases to ensure an application is not already on file to prevent duplicate requests. After borrowers complete the data entry portion of the form, they have the option to print the loan application locally and sign, to have the loan application printed at AES and mailed to them for signature, or to sign the loan application electronically with their U.S. Department of Education PIN.
Note: If you as a lender have not agreed to accept electronically signed MPN’s, the e-sign option will not appear on the MPN. If you would like information on how to participate in our e-signature program, please call 717-720-2750.
Parent/Graduate PLUS Pre-approval
For applicants (parents or graduate/professional students) who are attempting to secure a Parent/Graduate PLUS loan
but want to know whether they are creditworthy, our Parent/Graduate PLUS Loan Pre-Approval program enables them to
receive a credit decision within seconds. When they initiate a request, we use state-of-the art software to obtain
and review the borrowers' credit reports so that we can respond in seconds with an approval or denial.
We also use the same technology to offer the Pre-Approval process directly over the phone. Customer Service representatives take information verbally then provides a quick answer regarding the credit decision.
The Parent/Graduate PLUS loan Pre-Approval process is available by calling 800-692-7392 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays. Parents may also apply 24 hours a day, every day via the on-line PLUS loan application.
Note: If you as a lender do not request that AES perform the credit check on your behalf, the Pre-Approval option will not be available for your borrowers. If you would like information on how to participate in our Pre-Approval process, please call 717-720-2750.
Account Access
We offer a one-stop online resource for students’ individual financial aid information. Using a secure server, access all relevant student aid information quickly and conveniently through a single portal. Borrowers can also schedule online electronic fund transfers for their accounts up to 60 days in the future and can view their payment histories, also.
eCommunications Center
Our eCommunications Center provides specialized support to help you with technical issues, such as:
- Logging in to your account
- Remembering your password
- Using the website
Utilizing the latest Internet and communications technology, our eCommunications Center allows you and your students to contact an AES representative directly using Web-enabled communications vehicles. Just click on any of the “Live Online Contact” links throughout the site and choose your contact option from the pop-up menu. We also offer traditional telephone and correspondence methods for maximum flexibility and convenience.
The eCommunications Center is available Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to Midnight (ET) and Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (ET), except major holidays.
